Anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antiviral activity of polyphenol-rich extract blend
Study description:
In vitro study evaluating the effect of a standardized polyphenol-rich blend (ELA) on inflammation, oxidative stress and antiviral activity in respiratory cell models, including A549 cells and 3D EpiAirway™ tissues.
Key results:
- Reduction of pro-inflammatory markers (IL1B, CXCL8, MCP1, ICAM1)
- Increased activity of antioxidant enzymes (SOD, CAT, HMOX1)
- Up to 87.5% reduction of human betacoronavirus (HCoV-OC43) replication
- Inhibition of SARS-CoV-2 spike protein (RBD) binding to ACE2 receptor
