Study description:
Ex vivo study evaluating the impact of prebiotic juice-based ingredients on gut microbiota composition and metabolic activity using the SIFR® technology in overweight adults.
Key results:
- Increased production of short-chain fatty acids (SCFA), including acetate, propionate and butyrate
- Stimulation of beneficial gut microbiota (e.g. Bifidobacteriaceae, Lachnospiraceae)
- Enhanced microbial metabolic activity and fermentation processes
- Generation of bioactive phenolic metabolites with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory potential
- Reduction of pH indicating favourable fermentation environment
